Dedicated infrastructure, sized to your workload

Our shared plans cover most teams, but some workloads want a machine of their own: predictable performance with no noisy neighbours, a specific region for latency or compliance, or simply far more storage and memory than a shared pool provides. For those teams we provision a dedicated, single-tenant server that runs only your databases, sized to exactly what you need and billed at a flat monthly rate with no usage metering.

A server that runs only your databases

A Custom plan gives you a dedicated non-metered bare-metal server, or a dedicated VPS, that contains nothing but your databases. Because it is single-tenant, every bit of the machine's storage, memory, and CPU is available to your workload, consistent with the server's specifications. There is no shared pool to draw from and no per-request or per-gigabyte metering to reconcile at the end of the month. You know your bill before you provision, and you know the full capacity of the hardware is yours.

You still get the Layerbase experience on top of it: the same dashboard, the same one-click database creation across our full engine catalogue, backups, and the connection and security features you would expect, including client-certificate (mTLS) auth. The difference is what sits underneath, and who else is on it, which is no one.

Consolidate several serverless bills into one flat rate

Modern stacks often spread a handful of managed databases across separate serverless vendors, each with its own metered bill. The costs are individually reasonable and collectively surprising.

A worked example

Say a team runs Postgres on Neon, search on Algolia, and a Redis-style cache on Upstash, and pays roughly $200/mo across the three. On a Custom plan, all three can live on a single dedicated server: Postgres and the cache run natively, and Meilisearch drops in as a fast, self-hostable replacement for Algolia-style search. Depending on how much speed and capacity you want, that consolidated setup typically lands between $50 and $100/mo, and because the whole machine is yours, you usually come out with more storage and better performance than the metered services you replaced, not less.

The savings are real, but the point is not only the price. It is one bill, one place to manage everything, one set of backups, and headroom you control instead of quotas you bump into.

Built for demanding workloads

Custom plans are equally at home at the other end of the spectrum. If you are planning for something like 800 GB of expected storage, or throughput that calls for several CPU or vCPU cores and 16 GB of memory or more, we size the machine to it. We would rather understand the shape of your workload first, read and write patterns, growth curve, latency targets, and then specify hardware that fits, than sell you a tier that almost fits. Tell us what you are building and we will consult on the right configuration and give you a customized experience.

A dedicated server, in the region you need

When a single-tenant deployment is a requirement rather than a preference, whether for a compliance framework, a customer contract, or an internal security policy, a Custom plan provides it: your databases run in isolation on hardware that is yours alone.

Regional pinning is handled the same way. If you need your data to live in a specific region for latency, to sit close to your application, or for data-residency and compliance reasons, our internal architecture accommodates it on a per-need basis. We work through the specifics with you rather than pointing at a fixed list of locations, so the answer is shaped by what your requirements actually are.

Let's scope it together

Every Custom plan starts with a short conversation. Tell us the engines you run, roughly how much storage and throughput you expect, and any region or compliance constraints, and we will come back with a configuration and a flat monthly price. No metering, no surprises, and infrastructure built around your needs rather than the other way around.
